Quaker Girawolf

The theme of this year’s ConvergeSE conference is “for web professionals who wish to defy classification“. To give life to that concept, Giovanni Difeterici of Period3 created some amazing illustrations of “convergent creatures” which you can check out on the conference website. We’ve received such a positive response from these illustrations that we’re hosting a contest for people to design their own creatures. As one of the organizers, I’m definitely not eligible to win anything, but that doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to have a little fun with it.

When I was a kid, my dad used to take a pair of scissors to whatever breakfast (cereal, waffle, oatmeal, etc.) box we finished off and made a 3D animal out of it while we ate. He’d make any animal we asked him to: rhinos, turtles, fish, alligators, birds… as long as we could explain what it should look like, he’d make the box version of the animal. Taking my dad’s bizarre box creatures a step further, my entry into the converged art contest is the Quaker Girawolf:

OK, that last one was *obviously* Photoshopped. Here’s his natural environment.

From the rear, he’s a bit bow-legged, with a “hint of brown sugar”.

Look at those pointy teeth…and rosy dimples.

From farther away he looks a bit like a Chihuahua. Fail? or WIN?

So yea, you know you can do better than this. Enter the contest for a chance to win a Flip SlideHD and tickets to the conference. If art isn’t your thing, pick your favorite submission and write a fun, creative and/or interesting description of said animal.

YOU CAN DO IT!!1!!
